Dhaka, Feb 14 – BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was imprisoned in a corruption case under the treatment of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital. There is a rumor that BNP is going abroad for better treatment this month. Relatives say, after meeting Khaleda Zia, who was undergoing treatment at BSMMU last Tuesday (February 11), the family applied to send her abroad for advanced treatment.
However, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said he did not know about Khaleda Zia’s appeal. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told a press conference on February 12, “I do not know whether the letter has been given by the family.”
However, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader claimed on Friday that Fakhrul Islam had spoken to me about the release of Begum Khaleda Zia. He requested me to tell the Prime Minister about Khaleda Zia’s parole. He said this at a press conference held at the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi, the capital.
“I have talked to the Home Minister and the Law Minister about the release of Khaleda Zia on parole,” he added. They did not receive any written application in this regard. They (BNP) are saying only by word of mouth, but have not made any written request. This is a corruption case. The government could consider if there was a political case.
“The BNP has repeatedly sought the release of Khaleda Zia or parole by the government, but this is not a political case. The government could have considered the matter only if it were political, ”said Obaidul Quader.
BNP has long been demanding Khaleda Zia’s treatment at a specialty hospital. But as per his imprisonment, he is being treated in a cabin at Government Hospital Bangabandhu Medical University Hospital. Khaleda Zia’s teeth and tongue treatment is well done there but her diabetes cannot be controlled. It is very upward. The family and the BNP claimed that he could become iller at any time as a result of this. In view of this, the government will consider the release of Khaleda Zia on parole. Sources claim that Begum Khaleda Zia will be taken to London for better treatment after completing formal procedures with the government and the appropriate authorities.
It has been heard from March of last year that Khaleda Zia will go abroad after being released on parole for better treatment. Sources also said that since the beginning of this year, the BNP was negotiating with the government on the release of Khaleda Zia. The government also agreed. But the BNP’s two-way decision in Dhaka and London was hampered. There are calculations of political gains and losses of BNP here, Khaleda Zia herself knows. Diplomats from several countries have also suggested to the government about Khaleda Zia’s parole. At the suggestion of diplomats, the BNP has returned to Parliament and as part of constructive politics, the BNP secretary general is holding a rally at the departmental level. There was no obstruction from the government.
It was reported that Khaleda Zia’s biggest obstacle to parole was her elder son Tareq Rahman, who lives in London. But Khaleda Zia’s health has worsened since she left her position. After talking to him, Shamim gave a letter from the family to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU), seeking the medical board’s recommendation to send him abroad to confirm the latest medical care on behalf of the family.
Khaleda Zia’s application has been sent to the medical board, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University sources also confirmed. The source said this was the first written request from the family to send Khaleda Zia abroad.
Concerned that the government, since the beginning of the issue of parole of Khaleda Zia, sincerely, BNP has delayed the meeting of political equations. The party has not been able to heal the highway in the liberation movement, nor to proceed in the legal process. Khaleda’s family could not rely on BNP’s weak political capability. However, this was the first written request from the family to send Khaleda Zia abroad.
Sources claim that the application was made as part of the agreement. Khaleda Zia’s personal doctor and nephew Dr. Mamun is going through all the processes. Khaleda Zia may be sent to London on the recommendation of the transfer of medical board certificate and transfer of all legal processes.
Regarding the family’s request for release on Khaleda Zia’s parole, Shamim Iskandar said that in view of his rapidly deteriorating health, he needed medical treatment at a foreign hospital with modern facilities to avoid any irreparable harm. The petition has sought the cooperation of the hospital authorities in taking care of Khaleda Zia’s family and taking better care of them. The family is expected to consider the application.
Regarding the application, Selima Islam, sister of Khaleda Zia, said that the application should be made so that the medical board recommends the government regarding treatment abroad. I sought abroad for better treatment on the application. And I said that to give him unconditional release. Because this is a completely sorted and false case. That is why we wanted unconditional release.
Asked whether Khaleda Zia would agree to go abroad, Selima Islam said she would have consent. His condition was so bad that he could not stand for five minutes. The left hand is completely bent. The bad condition of the right hand. Get consistent with his eyes
